WHAT IT MEANS TO HAVE HIGH CHOLESTEROL?

If you have high level of cholesterol in your blood,

your body is producing too much “bad” low-density lipoprotein(LDL)

and too little “good” high-density lipoprotein (HDL).

“Bad” LDL carries cholesterol into your arteries, contributing to artery-clogging plaque,

while “Good” HDL carries cholesterol away to liver out of the body.

The biggest dietary cause of high cholesterol is eating too much saturated fat.

By choosing the right food and taking good care of yourself,

you can do a great deal to reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke.
