Acupuncture for Infertility

What Do You Need To Know About Acupuncture for Infertility (IVF)?

Infertility can be a crushing blow. Endless visits to doctors and specialists, expensive fertility treatments, and even just the waiting, lead to frustration, depression, and feelings of hopelessness. You’re not alone. Infertility plagues approximately 7.3 million women of childbearing age each year. Any sort of imbalance can be a stumbling block to conception.

The Ancient Art of Infertility Treatment

HOW ACUPUNCTURE  ACTUALLY HELP ON INFERTILITY?

Acupuncture is the insertion of ultra-thin, sterile needles into specific acupuncture points on the body which reside on channels or meridians. The needles are used to stimulate certain key “energy points” believed to regulate spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical balance.

Yes! It may sounds “fairy fantasy” but here’s the only theory you need to know is BLOOD FLOW..BLOOD FLOW..BLOOD FLOW!

Acupuncture can increase blood flow to the endometrium, which helping to facilitate a thick, rich lining. It can also provide better blood flow to the ovaries and uterus, creating a stronger chance for an egg to be nourished and carried to term

Here’s we’ve concluded some positive effects where acupuncture do on infertility for both man & woman:

  1. regulate the menstrual cycle and promote regular ovulation
  2. regulate the hormones to produce a larger number of follicles
  3. improve the functions of ovaries to produce better quality eggs
  4. enhance the vitality of sperm
  5. relieve the side effects of drugs used in IVF
  6. increase the thickness of the uterine lining so to encourage successful implantation
  7. reduce the chance of miscarriage

WHEN SHOULD ACUPUNCTURE BEGIN?

Acupuncture is similar to physical therapy in that it is a process-oriented method of medical intervention so it is better to do more than less. In RenYi Acupuncture Centre patients are commonly treated for three to four months before progressing to insemination,in vitro fertilization(IVF), or donor-egg transfer .

This pacing of treatment seems to have a therapeutic effect.

Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness suggest that the most effective fertility treatments involve a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and traditional medicine. However, conception occasionally occurs when acupuncture and herbal medicines are used without traditional medical interventions.

BEST TIME TO DO ACUPUNCTURE ?

If you are a woman seeking help with fertility related issues, naturally or assisted, there are certain times during your cycle that we like to see you.

  • During the follicular phase – day 5, 6, 7 or 8 of your menstrual cycle (day 1 being the first day of heavy flow)
  • The day before, day of or day after ovulation (as indicated by your LH surge)
  • During implantation time (6 – 10 days after ovulation).

If you are going through an IVF cycle, it is best if you can start acupuncture 6 to 8 weeks prior to transfer, so that we can help with egg quality, work on any cycle or lining irregularities, address any nutritional concerns, and help reduce stress. The most important times to have acupuncture are the same as above, however, once you begin your stimulation medications you may be seen twice a week depending upon information gathered from your ultrasounds.

WHEN SHOULD I STOP?

Typically most miscarriages occur within the first 3 months of pregnancy. Consequently, treatment of patients may often last through week twelve to help prevent miscarriage.
